What is Malaysia GST?

what is gst

During the reading of the 2014 budget for Malaysia in October 2013, the government proposed that the Sales and Services Tax was to be abolished and replaced with Goods and Services Tax (GST) of six percent starting on April 1, 2015. The GST Bill 2014 was passed in Dewan Rakyat (lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia) on 7 April 2014.

GST is not an additional tax but rather is a consumption tax paid when a person spends or makes a purchase, and is imposed on taxable supplies.
